Exercise Barriers and Facilitators for Breast Cancer Patients After Surgery: A Qualitative Content Analysis

PURPOSE: This study aimed to understand the barriers exercise and facilitators of for up 4 weeks following breast cancer surgery.METHODS: A descriptive qualitative research method was used in this study. Twelve patients were recruited through purposive sampling immediately after surgery.RESULTS: Physical aspects (pain at surgery site, reduction range motion, decrease fitness), environmental (difficulty movement due drain, lack information on exercise), psychological (concerns about side effects, fear pain, injury during exercise) identified as exercise. Expectation positive effects (recovery from surgery, prevention lymphedema, usefulness future radiation therapy, recurrence, health management) social support (hospital education, medical staff, received via mass media) exercise.CONCLUSIONS: We recognized different among who recently underwent surgery. Future intervention studies should consider minimizing such maximizing our
